Lack of O' Licence Results in Impounded Truck
Scottish Traffic Commissioner (Joan Aitken) has ordered the impounding of a truck used by Tayside Scaffolding (based in Dundee) and refused their application for it's release.

The scaffolding business had been operating the vehicle without a valid licence and had been stopped by a VOSA Officer. Subsequently, the business was informed that they did need a licence but it failed to obtain one over the coming weeks. VOSA officers impounded the vehicle, an application for it's release was submitted but it was denied by the Traffic Commissioner.

3,000 Licence Revocations
Up to 3,000 operator licence holders could have their operator licenses revoked by the Traffic Commissioners.

The Standard National operator licence holders that did not return the Transport Manager questionnaire that was sent to them last year could have their licence revoked.

The questionnaire, which is required under EU legislation, demanded that all nominated Transport Managers provide information about themselves to the DfT. The information provided is to be used in a Europe wide database that will be used to keep tabs on Transport Managers and monitor their competency.

Operators that did not comply with this legislative requirement can expect to be investigated by the Traffic Commissioner further.
