Hungarian Truck Driver Jailed

Gabor Fuksz has been jailed for 16 weeks following an inspection by VOSA officials. VOSA officials found that Mr Fuksz had been using a magnet to inhibit the operation of the vehicle's tachograph and speed limiter.

Suspicions were raised when Mr Fuksz's vehicle was stopped by police after observing the vehicle travelling at 80 miles per hour (the vehicle was supposedly limited to 53 miles per hour at the time). Mr Fuksz then climbed out of the cab and removed a magnet from near the gearbox which he tried to conceal on the underside of the fifth wheel coupling.

Mr Fuksz was arrested and sentenced to a 15 month driving ban and a 16 weeks in prison.
